What doesn't Brand Carbon do?
We don't offer carbon auditing, we don't originate carbon credits ourselves, and we're not affiliated to any other carbon company in any way (other than through the individual transactions we carry out with originators on behalf of our customers).

Why doesn't Brand Carbon offer other services?
Because we strive to remain completely impartial at all times when advising our customers on the best carbon credits to suit their needs. Offering other services could potentially lead to conflicts of interest and subsequently compromise our objectivity, which is why we specialise in carbon credits brokering only.

What is a carbon credit?
A carbon credit (or carbon 'offset') is a closely-regulated certificate which represents a reduction of carbon emissions being released into the atmosphere (one carbon credit = approximately one tonne of carbon emissions). There are a number of different types of carbon credit, all of which are subject to stringent regulation.

What are the different types of carbon credit?
There are a range of different types of carbon credits available on the market within Australia, and we can help you obtain any of them. Some of the main types are; Emission Reduction Units (ERUs); Certified Emission Reductions (CERs); Verified Emission Reductions (VERs); Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs); and NSW Greenhouse Abatement Certificates (NGACs).

Where do carbon credits come from?
Projects such as wind turbine 'farms' and forestry regeneration schemes ('bio sequestration' schemes) earn carbon credits, which they then sell on to businesses that do generate emissions, thus enabling those businesses to effectively 'offset' their emissions.

What is a carbon footprint and how do I work out mine?
A carbon footprint is the total amount of carbon emissions (also known as greenhouse gases , or GHGs) that a business, individual or other collective entity produces over a given period - usually a calendar year or a financial year. There are a number of methods for calculating your carbon footprint, such as online tools, but for a meaningful and approved calculation you'll need to contact an independent professional carbon auditor. Find out more about independent carbon auditors here.
